My Story
The chapter I couldn't close
For most of my life, I lived inside a chapter that exhausted me. I tried to close it many times, in many ways, but it never stayed closed.
I would watch myself repeat the same patterns, in relationships, in moments that mattered, with people who deserved better than what I gave them, and feel the familiar weight settle back in.
Eventually, I reached a point where I had to ask the question honestly: What is wrong with me? Not out of self-criticism, but as the beginning of an answer.
What I found was not a flaw to fix. It was an unread chapter, written a long time ago, running in the background of every chapter since.
The Turning Point: Seeing Life as a Book
Around that same time, my work as a funeral celebrant took on a completely different weight.
Sitting with families in the days after a loss, gathering the fragments of a life to shape into a eulogy, one truth struck me every single time: nobody reaches for the job titles, the achievements, or the things accumulated. They reach for the person. Who they really were. How they loved. What they gave. What they overcame.
Sitting in those rooms, the celebrant work became a mirror. I realised that the book of a life isn't written at the very end. It is being written right now, page by page. And I could no longer spend my days helping other people make sense of their stories while refusing to read my own.
What Changed
Understanding that unread chapter, really looking at it in the light for the first time, changed everything that came after. Not by rewriting the past, because you cannot do that. But by setting down what it had cost me to carry it unexamined for so long.
What I found underneath was not a broken version of myself needing repair. It was the real one. Already there. Already worthy.
I know what it costs to keep carrying an unread story. And I know what it means to finally set one down.
The work I now offer you
That is the work I now offer you. Not therapy, and not a quick fix.
A narrative space to sit with the chapters that made you, so you can read your story so far with honesty and compassion, release what no longer serves you, and write what comes next on purpose.
You do not have to wait until the end of your life for someone else to read your book clearly. You can read it now, while the pen is still in your hand.
